E.V. Zukowski is a fiction writer from Metro Detroit. Her stories often center around death, complicated families, and the immortal nature of art. Her work can be found in Every Day Fiction and elsewhere.
In May 2025, she graduated with an MFA in Creative Writing (Fiction) from West Virginia University. There, she taught undergraduate writing and served as co-Editor in Chief for Hellbender Magazine (formerly Cheat River Review).
She’s currently trying to finish drafting her debut novel—once and for all—which has been nearly six years in the making, scrapped and restarted numerous times, and hindered primarily by the author’s tendency for perfectionism.

Hiking and Travel
When not writing or reading, E.V. spends time outdoors, hiking and running. Travel is among her favorite pastimes, and she aims to eventually hike every U.S. National Park.

Companion Animals
E.V. lives with three cats: Daisy, a sweet, shy calico; Charlie, a fun-loving, black shorthair; and Eloise (aka “Little Foot” or “Little”), a wild-and-cute, one-eyed tabby. Their favorite activities include sunbathing in the yard, batting strings & stuffed mice, and chasing each other from room to room.
